ABOUT ME

Why Yoga? Yoga helped me connect with who I really am, like nothing else in my life has.

I was a very hyper kid and I practiced many sports, gymnastics, skating, cheerleading, swimming, running, rock climbing. My first experience with Yoga was online classes, and when I practiced rock climbing we used to do sun salutations and stretching before training. That was when I started feeling more attracted to this practice and lifestyle.

When I moved to China I started attending Yoga classes twice a week while studying Chinese and pursuing my master's degree in business. In my last semester of masters, my interest in Yoga was so strong that I decided to do a Yoga training, primarily because I wanted to deepen my knowledge.

In my journey to find a school to which I felt connected, I found Drishti, a small Shala in Shanghai, China, at that time, owned and managed by Rajeev, the teacher of teachers, my spiritual master of life, who taught me so much of the science of Yoga. to whom I will always keep a special place in my heart, and to whom I’ll be grateful every day, for sharing his knowledge in the most committed and pure way, this man showed me what discipline and mental power is.

Those were intense months of physical, emotional, mental and spiritual challenges, but times when I learned the most valuable things, and what truly has value in life, that little shala became my home, and my classmates became my family. In those months I knew myself more than in 24 years of my life, I felt more connected than ever, they were times of deep self-knowledge, of exploring my inner wisdom, of self-love, of valuing and re-valuing the things that really matter in life. Here, for the first time I felt I was walking on the right path, and since then I’ve never stopped feeling this way.

Those months flew by, and with the closing ceremony came my departure from China, the end of another chapter, but the beginning of the rest of my life, while I had that last talk with Rajeev, my teacher, I confessed these words that I still remember perfectly: "Thank you for making me change my mind." I never wanted to be a teacher, I told him in the beginning of the course, and then that day I knew that I didn't see myself doing anything else in this life other than sharing this practice.

Since then I have met and practiced with renowned teachers around the world, sharing knowledge and exchanging energy, I’ve taught in different Yoga studios, professional athletes and soccer players, pregnant women and elderly, I have offered talks and Meditation workshops in companies and wellness events, community Yoga in parks, cooking classes, Yoga classes on YouTube and guided Meditation podcasts. What I enjoy the most is bringing Yoga to people who have never practiced it and being part of their process. Every day I learn more from each of my students, and today I know that every decision I made in my life was and happened to take me on this path.

My classes are based on the concept of a smooth and grounded practice, focused on awakening intimate awareness and inspiring the rebalance of the body, mind and spirit through Yoga, meditation and conscious eating. Intuitively guiding you on a journey towards individuality to discover yourself, to connect with the essence of your being and your space of true love, infusing energy and movement from intentional breathing, as you learn to cultivate your own practice, honor the temple sacred that is your body and find well-being and balance in your life on a spiritual and intellectual level, in such a way that every day you move in a state of peace, in which the knower, the knowledge and the known become one.

To each of you with whom I have had the joy of sharing this path of love, intuition and knowledge, thank you very much! Namaste!

Testimonials.

I have always been a person with a tendency to rationalize everything. This year, in an attempt to do things in a different way, I set out to connect more with my physical sensations and better understand my body. This is how I decided to approach yoga.
Without much previous experience, I decided to turn to Jimena for her personalized approach and the possibility of having individual classes that would suit both my level and my goals.
In the months that have passed, Jimena and her classes have become a space for connection and to recharge my energy. Each session has a purpose, a rhythm and a teaching that goes beyond postures or techniques. Jimena has been a great guide on this path and every week she challenges me to go one step further in the process of exploring the limits of the mind and challenging those of the body. Her teaching style is passionate, calm, intuitive and rigorous at the same time.
Thank you for sharing your experience and knowledge with patience, empathy and accessibility.

Over the past couple of years, I’ve had the privilege of taking many of Jimena’s yoga classes in studios, groups, parks and private classes—in English and Spanish.
I have grown in my yoga journey in so many ways, thanks to Jimena. When I first started, the philosophy of yoga was distant and basic postures were a challenge. Jimena was there with me to answer questions, encourage me, push me, challenge me and help me grow. I am still at the beginning of my journey but having such a strong guide with Jimena is a foundation that I am forever thankful for.
Jimena brings a maturity and compassion to each class that is often missing in other classes that I’ve taken. Regardless of your level, experience, age or goals, Jimena’s practice is accessible and always makes my day better.

I consider Jimena my first yoga teacher, it had been a very short time since I had started my practice, which consisted and still today consists of online classes. I met her in her Yoga classes at the park on Saturdays which became essential and my favorite moment of the week for more than 6 months. In Jime I not only found a wonderful guide, a counselor and that person always ready to answer my questions, I also found a friend and, by far, an example to follow. From her classes, I love her tone of voice, the fluid sequences, the naturalness of her teaching and how, in a kind and calm way, she always takes me to go a little further, to improve my practice, which transmits both in person and virtually.

I’ve taken both private and group instruction with Jimena for over 2 years. My practice has been inspired by her quiet enthusiasm and encouragement. As an older athlete with occasional nagging injuries, she has helped me to accommodate when necessary and learn when and how to push through discomfort for better strength, mobility and balance. I’ve been able to participate in Jimena’s live streaming classes while we are in different countries and they’ve been really fun and challenging. I’ve been led by many yoga teachers and she is one of the best. If I could bring Jimena and her practice to my town, I would do it in a heartbeat!

My mother and I had the opportunity to attend your classes, discussing and reaching to the conclusion, you transmit energy and peace to your students; You indicate very well what we should do regardless of age, ability or experience and that makes us feel comfortable practicing Yoga. You take into account the physical aspects of your class to develop meditation and postures.
What makes the yoga experience with you as a teacher dynamic, is the professionalism and formality to teach. Thank you teacher for showing and sharing your passion!

I met you approximately 4 years at the Country Park in Bogotá, I loved your classes from the beginning, you are a woman who emits tranquility and denotes a great professionalism as a teacher in the discipline of Yoga, nowadays many claim to be yoga teachers but I only know a few as coherently as you, that’s why I admire you, as a teacher and as a human being.
Your practices have flow and are very well structured, without a doubt you are a great teacher, that’s why I always recommend you when asked about people who teach Yoga.
Thank you for your teachings and for being part of this change of the humanity. We need people like you, Conscious and Consistent Human Beings.
Thanks.
Namaste my dear Yogini 🙏

You are a person who transmits tranquility and relaxation in all your classes, . I greatly admire your discipline and perseverance and above all, the great passion with which you learn and teach; the same passion that makes you a comprehensive professional. Your experience and the ability you have to feel and transmit your knowledge with patience but above all with love for others are evident. Highly recommended, the best!

I’m a marathon runner and 2 years ago I had an injury which made me look for another training alternative since I couldn’t do any exercise with impact.
And that’s where I met Yoga, a discipline that helped me balance by stretching and even breathing which I had never practiced due to ignorance. My first teacher was jimena and I will always have my first class in my heart and thoughts, Because of her I keep practicing Yoga and it’s now part of my training as a runner and athlete, which has been a great help to recover and thus avoid injuries.
Thank you very much my Jimena, blessings and success, I hope to have a yoga class under your guidance and teaching again.
— Angela Mendez, Marathon runner
I started taking classes with Jimena at the park. The classes there were very pleasant, outdoors and with classmates who made the space very comfortable. Jimena generates a space of trust. It doesn’t matter if you are a beginner or an expert, she cares about the good development of everyone. I had already taken yoga classes at gyms, however those classes used to be very complicated, I was worried that doing the exercises would hurt my body. On the contrary, Jimena did not force me to perform the movements, but asked me to do it as far as I could and so little by little I let go. This convinced my mom and me to do private classes with Jimena. These classes were a very pleasant experience. If each was equipped to create the most pleasant space, with aromas and sounds. It was a very comforting process for me because with Jimena’s exercises I felt that my body was healthier, without having to torture my mind. Jimena’s way of teaching creates a balance between physical and mental health. I am so grateful for the time I attended those classes. Finally, I would like to highlight that Jimena has a very useful voice control to accompany the classes she teaches.

I am a very anxious person, I am always overthinking and my mind is very difficult to calm. When I started classes with Jimena, since the beginning she helped me to focus on my body and calm my mind. Her voice guided me through different difficult movements that were easy to do because she taught me how to breath during the process. I took classes in her studio, which is is the perfect place in the city because it has a good view and the environment is perfect and allows to focus in our selves. I really liked that she used my senses, she made me connect with my body and mind (smell, sight, hearing). I fully recommend her class.
